Disclosed is a DC power distribution system provided with: an electric power conversion unit which converts AC electric power supplied from an electric power system to DC electric power; distribution equipment which distributes the DC electric power converted by the electric power conversion unit to the inside of a building; a plurality of electrical appliances which are driven by the DC electric power distributed using the distribution equipment; and a control device which controls the electric power conversion unit. The electrical appliances have a communication function which transmits information relating to the operating status of the electrical appliances to the control device. The conversion efficiency of the electric power conversion unit when converting AC electric power to DC electric power is adjustable, and the control device controls the electric power conversion unit so that the conversion efficiency of the electric power conversion unit approaches a maximum value on the basis of the information transmitted from the electrical appliances.
