A method for evaluating the effectiveness of treatment of patients with ischemic heart disease with angina pectoris and arterial hypertension with diastolic dysfunction of the left ventricle by "hypertrophic" typecomprises the comparison of patients before and after treatment with atenolol. Before treatment with atenolol, the Doppler echocardiography is performed in a patient at rest and the transmitral blood flow is determined by measuring the rate f early diastolic filling. After treatment with atenolol the similar study is performed, and if the rate of early diastolic left ventricular filling is increased by 10% or more compared with the rate before treatment, the hemodynamic and antianginal effect results are evaluated as positive.
