The invention relates to optical instrument making means, in particular to a material for interference coatings of optical fluoride based-elements. The material is for coating of interference coatings to optical fluoride based-elements. As fluoride a complex compound BaMgF4 is used. The invention provides a low refraction index, more wide area of optical transparency, insignificant optical losses in the coating layer and higher mechanical strength.
