Ship-mooring apparatus comprises a hook a pivoted at b in a frame mounted on a quay such that the frame can swing horizontally and vertically, the hook in an operative position engaging a hawser and being pivotable to an inoperative position by a pull on the hawser to release same, the frame then bearing on the hook pivot point to bias the hook back to its operative position. The hook is locked in its operative position by its end a<SP>1</SP> engaging a flat surface of a bolt e pivoted in the frame and carrying a lever j, the free end of which is latched by a member d pivoted at e to the frame and connected by a lever e<SP>1</SP> and link f to a lever g pivoted at h to the frame. The hook is released by a pull on lever g in the direction of arrow i. In another arrangement, the lever j is arranged to strike a damping-member during release of the hook and is thus restored to the locking position to secure the hook which is returned by the biasing force provided by the frame.</p> |
