PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display element for low power light isotropy is provided to reduce driving voltage by efficiently inducing birefringence and to increase viewing angle characteristic. CONSTITUTION: An upper plate(130) faces two substrates. A lower plate(140) is separately arranged in the upper plate. An insulating layer is located in the upper part of the lower plate. A pixel electrode and a common electrode(170) are separately displaced with the upper part of the insulating layer.
