PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sufficient engine brake power without giving physical disorder to a driver. SOLUTION: The device comprises a road information acquisition processing means 90 for acquiring road information, a driving environment recognition processing means 91 for recognizing the driving environment of the road where the vehicle runs based on the road information, a recommended gear ratio calculation processing means 93 for calculating the recommended gear ratio corresponding to the condition of the road, an optimal gear ratio calculation processing means 94 for calculating the optimal gear ratio based on the intended shift of gears by the driver and the actual gear ratio and for changing the optimal gear ratio at the speed of gear-shift indicating the quantity of gear-shift per a prescribed unit time determined by the difference between the recommended gear ratio and the actual gear ratio, and a gear-shift control processing means 95 for executing the gear-shift control process. The device allows the driver to change the gear ratio in response to the road condition and to shift down early. |
