PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for economically, safely and efficiently producing the carboxyalkylated cellulose fibers and the antimicrobial metal carboxyalkylated cellulose fibers without needing a large amount of a carboxyalkylating agent and an organic solvent and without requiring a complicated apparatus. SOLUTION: The method for producing the carboxyalkylated cellulose fibers carboxyalkylates cellulose fibers with a carboxyalkylating agent composition aqueous solution containing an alkali metal hydroxide, a carboxyalkylating agent and a water-soluble salt except the carboxyalkylating agent. The method for producing the carboxyalkylated cellulose fibers includes the carboxyalkylated cellulose fibers dyed with a reactive dye.
