Panel Mounting System with shock absorbing deformable strut

A panel mounting system for mounting a panel 2 (particularly a solar panel) to a structure 3. A load element 9 connects a panel retaining bracket 5 to the roof structure and plastically deforms upon application of a predetermined threshold load to the load element. The load element is typically an elongate strut which has a cranked 9a initial condition 9a and elongates during plastic deformation. In use, damage to the roof due to upward forces in strong winds is prevented and it is easy to see when damage has occurred to the strut and replacement is necessary.
