A transmitter station may perform channel encoding for multiple data streams being sent simultaneously for a MIMO transmission. The channel encoding may include forward error correction (FEC) encoding and/or rate matching. The transmitter station may perform scrambling for multiple data streams with different scrambling codes after channel encoding. The transmitter station may also perform channel interleaving, symbol mapping, and spatial processing for multiple data streams after channel encoding. A receiver station may receive the MIMO transmission, perform descrambling for multiple data streams with the different scrambling codes, and then perform channel decoding for multiple data streams.
