The coin identification device (1) has a remanence sensor for detecting a magnetic remanence of a coin. The remanence sensor is arranged at a coin transport route along which the coin is transportable with a predetermined transport speed. A magnetizing device is arranged on the coin transport route before the remanence sensor for biasing the coin. The remanence sensor is an anisotropic magneto resistive sensor. An independent claim is also included for a method for automatic counting, sorting and checking of the authenticity of various coins. |
