The discharging path 76 is connected with the painting material supplying path 70. The painting material sensor 42 detects the painting material within the discharging path 76. The controller is connected to the painting sensor 42 and switching unit 48. A controlling unit 48 brings the switching unit 48 into a fully closed state in a case where the painting material sensor 42 detects the painting material. According to this painting material charging device, the amount of painting material discharged to the outside of the painting material supplying path in a air-releasing process can be reduced.
