PURPOSE: A backlight unit and a display device including an optical assembly are provided to simplify the manufacturing processes by using a modularized optical assembly. CONSTITUTION: An optical assembly(10) comprises a substrate(14), a plurality of light source(13) which radiates light around a first direction, a light incident part(15b) which receives light from the first direction, a light guide plate(15) which includes a light emitting part(15a) which is connected with the light incident part, and covers(18,19) which cover the substrate and the light sources.
