<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multicore optical fiber in which the increase in polarized wave mode dispersion is suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: In the multicore optical fiber 1, a plurality of multicore units 21 to 27 are so arranged to have three times or more of rotational symmetries with respect to the center of each multicore unit on the cross section perpendicular to the optical axis Ax direction, thus structural asymmetry is reduced, structural birefringence is reduced and the increase in polarized wave mode dispersion is suppressed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
