APPARATUS FOR FORMING IMAGE ON PHOTOSENSITIVE SURFACE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a scanning resolution without being required to increase the number of light sources of integrated arrays, in an apparatus for forming an image on a photosensitive surface.

SOLUTION: A system 50 includes first and second integrated multi-beam sources 52 and 54; and a polarized beam splitter 90. The first integrated multi-beam source 52 includes a plurality of optical light emitters which are arranged so as to generate a plurality of first light beams having a first polarized light simultaneously. The second integrated multi-beam source 54 has a second polarized light, and includes a plurality of optical light emitters which are arranged so as to generate a plurality of second light beams simultaneously. The polarized beam splitter 90 is arranged on both optical paths of pluralities of first and second light beams so as to make the respective optical paths substantially parallel to each other. At least part of the polarized beam splitter has light transmission for the first polarized light, while at least part of that has reflectivity for light of the second polarized light. The polarized beam splitter further outputs an image beam array to an image path.
