摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the water-discharging time and the drying time, to improve the reliability of discharging water, and to enable the welding of high quality in a welding method in which a torch is miniaturized and simplified, and the welding is executed with a fore end of an arc electrode being under the in-air environment. SOLUTION: In an underwater welding apparatus for executing the welding in an underwater environment while locally being in-air environment, a gas-jetting groove (74) is formed in an outer circumference of a torch body (73) mounted on an underwater welding head and using an insulator; the torch body (73) is covered with a metallic cover (79); an arc electrode (23), a wire nozzle (22), a camera (9), and one or a plurality of lights (13) are arranged on the torch body (73); these components are integrated with each other; and a torch structure is miniaturized. In the torch structure, a heat-resistant and elastic absorbent material is provided on a fore end of the torch body (73) between a supporting member equipped with a closed-cell type, expandable and flexible shield member and a fore end of the torch body (73).
