PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distribution server and method of controlling the same, capable of reducing an amount of data transmitted to a mobile terminal as much as possible, and to provide a document file browsing system including the distribution server. SOLUTION: The distribution server retrieves a document file 17 corresponding to a document file distribution request from the mobile terminal 12, from a document file storage part 34. The distribution server analyzes the document file 17, and generates a layout information table 39 indicating layout information of an object included in the document file 17. The distribution server extracts text information from each text area of the document file 17. The distribution server generates an image file 18 from the document file 17. The distribution server distributes the image file 18 and the layout information table 39 to the mobile terminal 12. When the distribution server receives a distribution request for the text information of an optional text area 63 inside a document image 22 from the mobile terminal 12, the distribution server distributes the text information corresponding thereto to the mobile terminal 12.
