PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating the degree of deterioration of a polyether-containing polymer capable of evaluating the deterioration state of the polyether-containing polymer with high precision using a very small amount of a sample. SOLUTION: A change in the amount of the pyrolytic product originating from the polyether part of the polyether-containing polymer such as polyether based polyurethane is measured using a pyrolytic gas chromatography method or a pyrolytic gas chromatography/mass analyzing method to evaluate the degree of deterioration of the polyether-containing polymer. The pyrolytic product originating from the polyether part is alcohol, ether and ketone, and, in the case that, for example, polyoxypropylene triol is used as a polyol, especially the compositional change of diisopropyl ether and 4-isopropoxy-2-butanone can be measured.
