The torque communication portion (103) may be strengthen through work hardening, corner sharpening, or the like. The socket portion (101) may retain a "C" shaped insert (505), one or more coiled inserts (605), or a plurality of stacked inserts (805), for gripping a hose end and the socket portion (101) might define a lip (107), with a seal (910) disposed in the socket portion between the insert (s) and the lip.
