Meter and communications apparatus

The present invention relates to an electricity meter apparatus which incorporates a communications function. Communications circuitry is mounted in a communications module, which is mountable in a separate compartment within the meter apparatus housing. Another compartment in the meter apparatus housing mounts the electrical circuitry for functioning of the meter. Each compartment has separate access doors to enable separate access to the communications compartment from other parts of the meter. The communications circuitry, in use, is electrically isolated from the mains supply.
