PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the number of magnetic transfers of servo signals or the like to a magnetic recording medium using a master information carrier. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium is immersed in and washed by a washing tank containing hydrogen water before the master information carrier for magnetic transfer is superposed on the magnetic recording medium. A dissolved hydrogen concentration in the hydrogen water is specified to be in the range of 0.1 to 5 ppm, an oxidation-reduction potential of the hydrogen water is specified to be in the range of -200 to -800 mV and 0.05 to 5 ppm KOH or NH<SB>4</SB>OH is added to the hydrogen water. The washing by the hydrogen water is performed in a multistage process by applying ultrasonic wave vibration and the washing is performed by using only the hydrogen water in the last washing step.
