PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of automatically carrying out sound output of only the contents of electronic mail or email received by a communication terminal of a specific person in an onboard device. SOLUTION: In the data communication system, when a communication terminal receives email addressed to the own terminal, the communication terminal transmits a request signal for requesting voice data indicative of the contents of the electronic mail to a server device. The communication terminal receives the voice data from the server device and transmits the voice data to the onboard device. The server device converts the contents of the electronic mail addressed to the communication terminal into voice data, in response to the request signal received from the communication terminal, and returns the voice data to the communication terminal. The onboard device outputs voice data received from the communication terminal within the cabin of a vehicle. Namely, the onboard device detects the position of a communication terminal in the cabin, and permits only voice data indicative of the contents of email received by the communication terminal located at a specific position in the cabin. According to the arrangement, sound output of only the contents of email received by a specific communication terminal can be carried out automatically in the onboard device.
