A separator for separating liquids from liquids and solids of different density comprises a container 1 with inlet and outlet apertures 2 and 3 respectively and with a transverse tank 4 having a baffle 7 directing incoming matter into it through openings 6, and an opening 9 below the level of the outlet 3, a depending baffle 12 adjacent the outlet and spaced from the container bottom, and a take-off member 41 and 42 for removal of floating matter. A transverse passage 14 for air adjacent the upper part of the baffle 12, a second vertical baffle 16 and an apertured horizontal baffle 43 may also be provided, and the take-off member made with telescoping parts 41 and 42 for adjusting the normal liquid level. |
