<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for amplifying nucleic acids by which the amount of a reaction liquid required for the amplification of the nucleic acids can be reduced, power conservation and cost reduction can be achieved, and the time required for the amplification can be shortened; and to provide a method for amplifying the nucleic acids, and a chip for amplifying the nucleic acids. <P>SOLUTION: The chip for amplifying the nucleic acids to which the reaction liquid is introduced comprises a first chamber, a second chamber, a connecting part connecting the first chamber and the second chamber, and having the maximum width smaller than the minimum width of the second chamber, and a liquid charged in the second chamber.
