PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for providing an output image of stable density regardless of humidity. SOLUTION: The process speed is reduced according to slowdown of rising of an electric field in a transfer section by low humidity (low humidity measured inside the apparatus), and the process speed is reduced by a value corresponding to the delay, by the slowdown, of the time at which the electric field strength becomes appropriate for transfer. Thus, an image region of paper is conveyed to a nip section after the electric field strength becomes appropriate for transfer. Then, transfer is performed under the electric field strength appropriate for transfer in the image region of paper regardless of the humidity, and reduction in transfer density is prevented.
