PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dishwasher of which handleability relating to storing dishes and a washing performance are improved. SOLUTION: The dishwasher includes: a washing tub 1 opened at the upper part; a body 2 for storing the washing tub 1 so as to be drawn out; a lower basket 3 for holding the dishes at the lower part of the washing tub 1; an upper basket 4 for holding the dishes at the upper part and being horizontally movable; washing means 7 for jetting washing water to the dishes; a rail 11 vertically inclined and formed on the inner sidewall of the washing tub 1, for supporting the upper basket 4; and a dish guard 6 for indicating the upper limit in the height direction of an object to be washed placed in the upper basket 4. A stopper 15 for regulating the movement of the upper basket 4 is formed on the sidewall of the washing tub 1, and the dish guard 6 is formed so as to be located at the almost same level as the upper edge part of the opening of the washing tub 1 when the upper basket 4 slides on the rail 11, abuts on the stopper 15 and is at a position higher than a reference position.
