PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a calibration device for a camera reducing the load in production, transportation, an arrangement, or a removal even for a large calibration device, and a method for using the same, appropriately preventing reduction in accuracy due to a resolution of the camera, when arranging the calibration device at a distant place from the camera. SOLUTION: The calibration device for a camera includes multiple calibration device pieces each formed into a sheet to have a polygonal shape in a plane view; the respective calibration device pieces include two or more different colors. Each of the calibration device pieces has a joint detachable from adjacent calibration device pieces on each of at least two sides of its polygonal shape; when the calibration device for a camera is used, the multiple calibration device pieces are assembled so as to have a checkered pattern; and the assemble pattern or a size can be changed as appropriate, according to spatial constraints or positional relationship with the camera.
