The sensor has a pulse transmitter, a pulse receiver, and pulse groups (104), which are transmitted, and coded such that the pulse groups or part of the pulse groups are filtered from noise during signal processing and are laterally assigned for distance measurement. The pulse groups are controlled by a random number generator according to frequencies of the pulse groups. The pulse groups are encoded in such a way that information transfer to a system to be measured during distance measurement. Time domain for the pulse groups is reduced.
