The method involves moving a product or a product row (15,16) horizontally such that a vertical suction gap is formed between the products or product rows or between products and a suction sealing. A vertically movable suction gripper fixes the products of the upper most product layer in their loosened position. A horizontally movable clamping gripper (7-10) clamps the upper most product layer and removes the lower sided sucked intermediate layers from the product stack. An independent claim is also included for a device for layer-wise depalletizing of products of a product pile.
