<p>A first appliance performs a first packet process on packets belonging to an existing flow. When switching appliances from the first appliance to a second appliance, a controller performs a shortcut process and then a switching process. In the shortcut process, the controller instructs a switch to set a first entry into a flow table, said first entry containing an instruction to perform the first packet process on packets belonging to an existing flow. In the switching process, the controller instructs the switch to set a second entry into the flow table, said second entry containing an instruction to forward appliance-addressed packets that belong to a new flow, not an existing flow, to the second appliance.</p> |
