PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for stably performing running of an ink ribbon and preventing reverse rotation of a driving gear and a following gear. SOLUTION: An ink ribbon cartridge pinches the ink ribbon by the driving gear rotated by driving from a driving source and the following gear engaged with the driving gear, and travels the ink ribbon by rotation of both gears. The ink ribbon cartridge is characterized in that an elongated hole whose longitudinal direction is inclined obliquely to a hole into which a rotating shaft of the driving gear is inserted is provided, the rotating shaft of the following gear is movably supported by the elongated hole, an energizing member pushing the following gear to the driving gear side is equipped, and when the driving gear is rotated, while the following gear is rotated, the following gear moves to a position which is along the elongated hole and in a reverse direction to the driving gear side, and is regulated by the energizing member, and when the driving gear reversely rotates, the following gear moves to the driving gear side along the elongated hole, as the driving gear and the following gear are engaged together deeply, the driving gear and the following gear stop to rotate.
