The present invention relates to a sound transmitting and receiving apparatus and a transmitting and receiving method thereof. According to the present invention, the sound transmitting and receiving apparatus comprises: a transmitting and receiving unit which transmits and receives sound signals to and from the outside in a wire or wireless manner; a storage unit which stores listening range data about the listeners; a correcting unit which performs correction by adjusting a compression rate and gains of each frequency band of the transmitted and received sound signals, on the basis of the listening range data stored in the storage unit; and an output unit which outputs the sound signals corrected by the correcting unit. According to the present invention, it is possible to minimize sound sections which a person with low hearing ability cannot hear at all and to reduce the sound sections which are heard as noise so that said person can hear sounds similarly to the way a normal person hears sounds
