The method involves introducing an automated brake applying process by a brake applying unit (2), and detecting a pedal gradient (x). The pedal gradient is compared with a critical pedal gradient (x1). The brake applying process is terminated when the pedal gradient is larger than the critical pedal gradient. The critical pedal gradient is replaced by a raised critical pedal gradient (x2) during a time period (delta t) after introduction of the brake applying process, where the raised critical pedal gradient is individual definable. An independent claim is also included for a device for prevention of an unintended brake interruption in a motor car.
