METHOD FOR PREPARATION OF POROUS MULLITE COMPOSITE WITH SPECIAL PORE STRUCTURE AND THE POROUS MULLITE COMPOSITE PREPARED BY THE METHOD

PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing a porous mullite composite with a specific pore structure and the porous mullite composite are provided to control freezing, sublimation-drying, and sintering conditions in order to obtain the porous mullite composite. CONSTITUTION: Aluminum oxide is mixed with fly ashes in order to secure the molar ratio of the aluminum oxide to silicon oxide to be between 1.2 and 1.8. Freeze casting slurry is formed using alcohol as a dispersion medium. A binder and a dispersing agent are added to the slurry, and the slurry is injected into a polymer mold. A frozen piece is formed. The frozen piece is eliminated from the polymer mold, and the alcohol is sublimation-dried. The alcohol incinerates evaporated frozen piece, and the piece is heated and sintered for 1 to 3 hours at temperature between 1200 and 1500 degrees Celsius.
