<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle monitoring system for clearly imaging all license plates by discriminating the type of the license plate based on the luminance value of the license plate measured by a luminance sensor, and controlling the output of an infrared projector with emission strength which is optimal to the imaging of the discriminated license plate. <P>SOLUTION: When a laser sensor 13 detects the passage of a vehicle 20, a luminance sensor 14 measures a luminance value B of a license plate 22, and when the luminance value B is lower than a predetermined threshold S, an infrared projector 15 is made to emit the rays of light with relatively high emission strength BH, and when the luminance value B is higher than the threshold S, the infrared projector 15 is made to emit the rays of light with relatively low emission strength BL, and the license plate 22 is imaged by a vehicle monitoring camera 16. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
