PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an influence of a servo spiral change produced by a random element while a servo spiral is being written. SOLUTION: A method for servo wedge writing on a recording medium, having a first and a second spiral set written thereon, determines a correction coefficient based on a difference between the first and second spiral sets; based on a value decoded from the spiral in the first spiral set, writes a servo wedge element at a first radius position of the recording medium; and based on a value decoded from the spiral in the second spiral set, writes a servo wedge element at a second radius position of the recording medium. Prior to the writing, the value decoded from the spiral in the second spiral set is corrected with the correction coefficient. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
