PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a periphery monitor capable of concentrating the attention of a driver on an important obstacle. SOLUTION: The periphery monitor monitoring a situation of a travel direction of a vehicle includes: an imaging part imaging an area including the travel direction of the vehicle; an obstacle detection part detecting an obstacle present in the area based on a pickup image obtained by the imaging part; a psychologic state detection part detecting the psychologic state of the driver of the vehicle; an attention arousing target setting part setting the number of obstacles surrounded by attention arousing frames out of the obstacles detected by the obstacle detection part based on the psychologic state detected by the psychologic state detection part; a superposition part superposing the attention arousing frames individually surrounding the obstacles of the number set in the attention arousing target setting part on the pickup image; and a display part displaying the pickup image superposed with the attention arousing frames.
