A method and an apparatus for download files are provided by this invention, which are applied to a mobile multimedia broadcast system. The method includes the following steps: a client displays broadcasted information to a user and the broadcasted information is provided to the user to select the file to be downloaded; the client receives the selection of the file to be downloaded from the user, reads the broadcasted information of the file to be downloaded which is selected by the user, and downloads the file to the localness when the broadcast start time which is included in the broadcasted information of the downloaded file arrives. With this invention, a file is downloaded without manual interference and a mass of the manual operations of a user are saved when the user uses the mobile multimedia broadcast service. Hence the service experience of the user is improved.
