Disclosed is an a-olefin (co)polymer characterized by being synthesized using a metallocene catalyst and by fulfilling conditions (a') and (b') below; also disclosed are a hydride of said polymer, and a high-viscosity lubricant with excellent viscosity properties and low temperature properties containing said polymers. (a') the molecules with 2,1-insertion polymer terminals measured by 1H-NMR is 30 mol% or more of the total molecules. (b') the mesotriad fraction (mm) measured by 13C-NMR is 50 mol% or less.
