PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical fixing method of a tool suitable for use mainly at the opening or the like of a tapping-off hole and of a hard chip in the tool, in the tool fixing the hard chip such as a carbide chip or the like on a base of steel. SOLUTION: The hard chip is fit in a female screw fitted chip hole provided on the base metal of steel, and a press ring, which is provided with male screws to be screwed into the chip hole on its outer circumference, is screwed into the chip hole from above the hard chip, causing the hard chip to be press-fixed thereto. The outer circumference of the hard chip is formed into a conical slope surface with its upper side (tip side) diameter reduced and the lower side (base side) diameter increased, thus forming, preferably, the inner circumference of the press ring into a trumpet-like inclined surface allowing the inner circumference to be tightly fit to the conical slope surface of the hard chip.
