PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner in which a filter covering a communication part of a partition wall can be smoothly attached to and detached from the partition wall of the vacuum cleaner body. SOLUTION: L-shaped side ribs 22 located on both the sides of the communication part 18 for making a dust collection chamber 2a opened/closed by a dust collection chamber lid 4 communicate with a blower chamber and bottom part ribs 23 extending between the lower ends of the ribs are arranged in the partition wall 7 of the body case 3. The side ribs 22 form fitting grooves 22a whose upper ends and communication parts are opened respectively along with the partition wall 7. A filter 31 covering the communication part 18 is detachably attached to the partition wall 7. A member holder 32 of the filter 31 has a side frame part 35 fitted into a fitting groove 22a and supported by the same and a lower frame part 34 supported by the bottom part rib 23. The rear side face of a side frame part 35 is a planar face coming into contact with the partition wall 7. The side frame part 35 has a thick-wall site 35b with the substantially the same thickness of the groove width of the fitting groove 22a and a thin-wall site 35c continuous to the lower side of the site 35b and thinner than the thick-wall part and is characterized in that the front faces of both the sites are continuous via an inclined face 35d.
