发明名称 Improved stroke adjuster for wind-motor-driven pumps
摘要 831,242. Wind-motors. AUCAMP, J. D. Sept. 16, 1957 [Oct. 23, 1956], No. 29163/57. Class 110 (3). [Also in Group XXVIII] An automatic stroke adjuster for use with wind - motor driven pumps comprises an hydraulic cylinder and piston assembly which is disposed between two portions of the pump rod, the hydraulic piston being attached to one portion of the pump rod and the hydraulic cylinder being attached to the other portion of the pump rod. An hydraulic fluid reservoir is provided, also a constricted passageway allowing flow of fluid from the space in the cylinder above the piston to the reservoir, and means for allowing a relatively unrestricted return flow of the liquid from the reservoir to that space. The upper part of the pump rod 2 is connected at its upper end to the driving crank and at its lower end to the hydraulic piston 9 which is disposed in the hydraulic cylinder 4, the lower cover 6 of the cylinder being secured to the lower part of the pump rod 2 on which is mounted the pump bucket 32 disposed in the pump barrel 11. The hydraulic cylinder is also provided with an upper coverplate 5 and an intermediate partition 7, the space 8 above the partition 7 being connected by a duct 28 to the space 29 in the cylinder below the piston 9, the spaces 8 and 29 together forming an hydraulic fluid reservoir. A spring- loaded valve 14 is disposed in the partition 7, a groove 18 in the side of the valve chamber permitting fluid to pass from the space 3 above the piston 9 to the reservoir space 8 when the valve is not seated on the seating 19. Non- return valves 30 are mounted in the piston 9 to allow fluid to pass from the reservoir space 29 to the space 3 above the piston. With the wind-motor working in a fair breeze, and with the piston 9 at the bottom of the cylinder 4 the pump bucket 32 will act through a full stroke, since when the upper part of the pump rod 2 and the piston 9 commence an upward stroke, the pressure created in the fluid in the space 3 above the piston will cause the valve 14 to close after a slight leakage through the groove 18, so that the cylinder 4 and lower part of the pump rod 2 and the pump bucket move upwardly with the upper part of the pump rod. In conditions of light breeze however, the pressure created in the fluid above the piston 9 by upward movement of the piston will not be sufficient to close the valve 14, so that fluid will escape through the groove 18 into the reservoir spaces 8, 29; the pump bucket 32 will then rise only a portion of its full stroke. During the downstroke under these conditions, fluid will flow into the space 15 above the piston 9 through the valve 14 but mainly through the valves 30 in the piston 9. The reservoir space 8 could be dispensed with by providing a valve assembly such as 14 in the piston 9. Again, the reservoir space 29 could be dispensed with by providing valves such as 30 in the partition 7 instead of in the piston 9.
