An unlagged liquid oxygen container 11 is maintained cold by liquid nitrogen issuing from rings of jets 14, 17 fed through lines 18, 19 and located around the head and an intermediate portion of the container. Nitrogen gas so formed is withdrawn by a fan 21. As shown the container 11 forms part of the launching equipment for a rocket 10.
