PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for setting an original point of workpiece of a machine tool, that can set an original point of workpiece with accuracy and with efficiency; and to provide the machine tool. SOLUTION: A method for setting original point of workpiece of a machine tool is to attach a machine vise 20 on a stage 30 and to level the machine vise 20; to move and adjust a position of a main shaft 11 to a reference hole 21, and to perform a centering of the main shaft 11 to the reference hole 21, which matching the axial center of the main shaft 11 to the axial center of the reference hole 21. Then, the position of the axial center of the main shaft 11 when completing the leveling is set as the original point of workpiece. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
