PURPOSE: A damper is provided to obtain desired damping-force characteristics by increasing a degree of freedom in setting the damping-force characteristics. CONSTITUTION: A damper comprises a cylinder(2), a piston, a piston rod, a relief valve, a back pressure chamber, a first orifice, a damping valve, a second orifice. Working fluid is hermetically filled in the cylinder. The piston is slidably inserted into the cylinder. The piston rod is connected to the piston and is extended to the outside of the cylinder. The relief valve controls the flow of working fluid from an upstream chamber to a downstream chamber by the sliding of the piston to one side. The back pressure chamber applies internal pressure in a direction of closing the relief valve.
