<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To encode a signal so that the signal before encoding may be reproduced, even when decoding is performed by full specification decoding technology, or by simple specification decoding technology. <P>SOLUTION: An encoding device 11 includes an estimation unit 12, an analysis unit 13, a calculation unit 14 and an encoding unit 15. The estimation unit 12 estimates decoded signals L' and R' on the basis of a down-mix signal M obtained by down-mixing input signals of input signals L and R, similarity ICC between the channels of the input signals L and R, and an intensity difference IID between the channels of the input signals L and R. The analysis unit 13 analyzes phases IPD and OPD of the input signals L and R, and phases IPD' and OPD' of the decoded signal L' and R'. The calculation unit 14 determines difference IPD" of IPD from IPD', and difference OPD" of OPD from OPD', as phase information.
