PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions with improved friction resistance, improved anti-shudder properties, and the appropriate friction properties, and compositions suitable for use in a variety of automatic transmission fluids. SOLUTION: The lubricating composition comprises: (a) hydrocarbyl phosphite; (b) the condensation product of at least one fatty acid with a polyamine; (c) a boric acid ester; (d) a borate dispersant; and (e) an oil of lubricating viscosity. The composition has improved anti-shudder properties and the appropriate friction properties. Furthermore, the composition is suitable for use in a variety of automatic transmission fluids.
