PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for assembling a cam housing, ensuring coaxiality of support holes formed in journal support portions with ease and with high accuracy when the cam housing is divided into the journal support portions for every journal shaft portions in order to improve manufacturing efficiency of an engine and reduce production costs. SOLUTION: This method for assembling the cam housing includes: a step (cooling step) of cooling the journal support portions 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 to such a predetermined temperature that the inside diameters of the support hoes 6a, 6b, ..., are approximately matched with the outside diameters of the journal shaft portions 2a, 3a, ..., ; and a step (cam housing assembling step) of assembling the cam housing 11 to a cylinder head 1 while supporting the cam shafts 2, 3 by the journal support portions 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 with the temperature of the journal support portions 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 set to the predetermined temperature that maintains the amount of contraction so that the inside diameters of the support holes 6a, 6b, ..., are approximately matched with the outside diameters of the journal shaft portions 2a, 3a.
