<p>A double ring network wherein two adjacent ones of two or more transmission stations (#ST1-#ST8) each having two communication ports (10,11) with which two-way communications can be performed serve as terminating stations; any one of the transmission stations (#ST1-#ST8) can serve as a base point; and wherein the transmission stations (#ST1-#ST8) use the communication ports (10,11) to connect themselves in a ring for communicating with one another via transmission paths. Each of the transmission stations (#ST1-#ST8) determines whether it has received a frame signal from an adjacent transmission station. If having received no frame signal, then the transmission station transmits a path confirmation frame signal, which is to confirm a path, to the adjacent transmission station. Thereafter, if having received, from the adjacent transmission station, no reply to the path confirmation frame, then the transmission station itself serves as a terminating station instead of a current terminating station and forwards no signals to the adjacent transmission station and following ones in the ring.</p> |
