A method and device for generating a software installation packet are disclosed. The method comprises: in the process of generating the software installation packet, a plurality of support library documents required to develop the software is divided according to document types, the support library documents with the same document type are compressed together, and the compressed support library documents with the same document type are located in the same part of the software installation packet. By adopting the solution, the size of application installation packets can be reduced largely, the network propagation speeds up greatly when the solution is applied in network transmission field, and the flash space, as well as the cost, is largely reduced when the software installation packets are written into flash directly. |
