Disclosed is a method of producing a (meth)acryloyl group-containing polysiloxane resin for inclusion in the resin matrix starting material of a light-controlling material, which is configured from a resin matrix starting material that hardens when irradiated with an energy beam and a light-controlling suspension obtained by fluidly dispersing light-controlling particles in a dispersing medium, said method comprising: (a) a silanol conversion step for converting a (meth)acryloyl group-containing alkoxysilane compound into a (meth)acryloyl group-containing silanol compound by means of an acid treatment; and (b) a dehydration-condensation step for subjecting a condensation starting material that contains the (meth)acryloyl group-containing silanol compound and a silanol group-containing siloxane monomer and/or oligomer to dehydration condensation in order to obtain a (meth)acryloyl group-containing polysiloxane resin. In this manner, it is possible to efficiently introduce the (meth)acryloyl groups of a condensation starting material into a polysiloxane resin during the production of a (meth)acryloyl group-containing polysiloxane resin for use in the resin matrix starting material of a light-controlling material.
